like most things, Couch isn't rocket science - which is why it's so amazing there wasn't a store like this in town before we opened it.
i liken it to the airlines - you can fly on one airline and get jammed into a cramped, crusty seat with surly flight attendants charging $7 for a soggy sandwich. plus $5 for headphones to watch a terrible movie on a televison with squiggly lines mounted on the cabin ceiling four rows ahead of you. and you better keep your wallet out cause it's gonna be another $6 for a jack and coke you have to mix yourself. not fun.

on a different airline, for the same price, you can kick back and get comfy in a nice leather chair. pop on those free headphones and choose from one of a dozen hd movies on your own personal entertainment system. touch a button and have a delicious cocktail delivered to you in a jiffy, free of charge.
why isn't every experience like the latter?! i really don't know. it makes absolutely no sense and it's one of those things we just have to live with - like traffic and junk mail.
we hate traffic. and junk mail. and mediocrity in general.
Couch has been started by 3 people who are trying their best to build something good, one opportunity at a time. we are photographers and artists and designers. our previous 'safe' jobs are now quickly getting smaller in the rearview mirror. we have taken the leap of faith to build this business because we believe in it. and because it's fun and it feels right.
we love design, but hate getting ripped off. we have scoured the country to find the magicians that build our couches. every industry has it's geniuses, and we have found them. simply put, we can build you the best looking couch you have ever seen, with the best materials, at an amazing price.
we love couches. we love sitting on them and watching movies with our friends. we love stretching out on them, opening the windows on these amazing santa barbara afternoons and reading our latest novels or trashy magazines. we love having a place for our friends to sleep when they visit. we love taking naps on them. or snuggling with our girlfriends on them. and so many other things. and we think you do too.
like we said in the beginning - it's not rocket science, but no one else is doing what we do. we really, truly believe that you will love your new couch.
everyone needs a couch.
